85 students and 49 youth older youth and adults spent the week of June 5-8 celebrating “Marty’s Party” 500 years of Reformation! Each day included music, crafts, outdoor recreation, snack and storytime. This is the beginning of your child’s Confirmation process at Olivet. The “Introduction to the Bible” class will be held Sunday, September 18, 9:45-10:45am or Wednesday, September 21, 5;45-6:45pm for all third graders and their parents. (This class is held during Sunday or Wednesday School). Bibles will be presented to third graders on Sunday, September 25 at the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services, or on Wednesday, September 28 at the 5:45pm worship service. There will be a $20.00 per child registration fee to cover the cost of the Bible.

The fourth graders at Olivet have an opportunity to learn more from their Bibles by reading and studying the Gospel of Mark. Fourth graders and their parents will meet together to find out about personal and family devotions during this level of their Confirmation process. Together, the family is expected to complete a daily devotion book at home, which takes about one month. The class will be held Wednesday, November 2nd, 5:45-6:45pm or Sunday, November 13th, 9:45-10:45am, during Sunday and Wednesday School. There will be a recognition of fourth graders and the completion of their Confirmation requirement at a worship service in December.

Attention second graders!
At Olivet, we have a special program just for you! It’s our Guardian Angel program. Sometime this year, you may be called to serve as a Guardian Angel. A Guardian Angel is a special friend to a baby who is baptized here at Olivet. You are asked to be a friend to the baby and also to pray for them. This is a wonderful way to connect younger members of the congregation with each other.

Music is offered weekly during Sunday School for students in preschool – fourth grade. The time is spent singing traditional and contemporary church songs, and preparing for special performances in worship, at the Christmas Program, and on Mother’s Day.

When a baby is born in the Olivet community, a rose is placed by the baptismal font in honor of the birth.  The Parish Nurse attempts to call the family, offer blessings, and offer for a visit by the parish nurse.  Various programs are offered to new parents and children such as baby massage, “bedtime and blankies”, “water play”.  At the time of the baptism, a special homemade blanket is given to the child.  Baby Sundays are held occasionally. On these Sundays new or expecting parents are invited to drop in to visit at the Parish Health Office for chatting and assessments of the baby as needed.  There is a baby scale and many special information sheets for parents. The goal is to provide support and guidance for the parenting journey.
